Book Review: The Transcendence of Marcianna by Isabelle Markus

Review:
I liked this book, and it was a good sequel to The Awakening of Marcianna.
I wanted to say that first, because I have to say it didn’t go in the direction I was expecting at all. Based on the first book, I was aware of the main character’s powers and that she wasn’t exactly human, but she didn’t find out what she was until book two. And that was quite the reveal.
You learn more about Marci’s protectors in this book too, and surprisingly, Astrid started to grow on me. She was a difficult character to like at first, but as Marci started to open up and assert herself, Astrid’s view of her changed (for the better.)
There were some new characters introduced as well, and one really nasty villain. I would love to go into details about them, but I feel it would ruin the storyline, so I’ll avoid that here.
This duology has a little bit of everything; natural family, action, intrigue, found family, secrets, supernatural beings, and a middle-aged MC… It’s a great set of books, but you need to read The Awakening of Marcianna for most of the sequel to make sense.
I really enjoyed this duology.
