Character Profile: Claire Ellington
Claire Ellington is the daughter of an influential Novanian duke, and at the beginning of Exile, she is married to Andrew, whom she believes is heir to the throne. Claire is as ambitious as she is beautiful, and she is adept at navigating court intrigue.
When she learns that Andrew is not the heir she believed he was, she wastes no time severing all ties with him. An annulment of their marriage is not enough to satisfy her anger and feelings of betrayal; she takes the further step of publicly humiliating her former husband at every turn, and blatantly pursues his half-brother, and true heir to the throne, Colin.
Claire has been groomed for the royal court since birth, and her goal of becoming Novania’s next queen is finally within her grasp. She quickly learns that Colin is not a man to be trifled with, but her desire for power outweighs any concern she has for her own well-being.
Claire Ellington will become queen, no matter the cost.

Author’s note: As a reader, you may be wondering at my choice of using a dagger for Claire’s tile. There’s a good reason for it, though I am not yet at liberty to reveal that information. It has to do with events that take place well into Harbinger, the third book in the series.
