Elleronne Hatchet Reporting: June 17, 2021
Good evening, I am Elleronne Hatchet, reporting to you live from the ITNA studio at the Nexus Between Worlds. Tonight, we have a special report coming to us from an undisclosed location. On the line, I have a person going by the moniker of “Commander”.
Commander, are you with us?
[Static] Yes, Ms. Hatchet.
I understand your situation has become precarious. Can you give us any details of the event, or of your location?
[More static] I cannot give you my location. If they discover that I’m reporting to you, and where I’ve gone to do it, they’ll kill me. [Rustling noises can be heard in the background, a muffled curse, followed by a relieved chuckle] Ah, it’s just a scorpion. Nothing to worry over.
It sounds as though you might be in a desert. Who is trying to kill you, Commander?
[Silence]
Commander, are you still on the line?
[A long sigh] Yes, Ms. Hatchet. I was merely attempting to decide what I can tell you of this situation without giving up my identity. My people have been forced into service, against our will. [Static] …five who have… [Static] …in charge. They will kill… [Static] …if they knew.
I’m sorry, Commander, we seem to be having some technical difficulties. Can you please repeat that?
[Static, followed by the sound of distant shouting] I’ve run out of time, Ms. Hatchet. [The line goes dead]
Well, I hope Commander is safe, wherever he happens to be. Our technical team believes the interference we were experiencing during the transmission was due to a sandstorm on Commander’s end. At this time we have been unable to determine the source of his call, and we are not sure which world it may have originated from.
What I can tell you is this: Something big is occurring where he is, and I will continue to seek more details as they become available. Until next time, this is Elleronne Hatchet reporting for the Interdimensional/Time-traveling News Agency. I wish you all a good night.
Thanks for reading the second installment of my ITNA series with Elleronne Hatchet! I know it has been a few weeks since the last post of this nature, but as I mentioned last week, things have become busy for me. I had some time this week to fit this in, and I hope you enjoyed it. (This is a bit of a teaser for the “big announcement” I keep hinting at, but more details will come soon.)
Elleronne has a longer, more exclusive interview coming up in my next newsletter as well, as a bonus for fans of Hunted. If you’d like to sign up, you can do so here.
Next week I will be posting my book reviews for June, in celebration of #PrideMonth. Have a great week, and thank you for your continued support.
