My Plans for 2025

Happy New Year! I hope all you readers out there are doing well.

2024 wasn’t too bad for me, all things considered, but I’m glad it’s over. Mostly, I’m glad the health issues I was dealing with are in the past and I’m thankful I’ve made a full recovery. And I’m looking forward to what this year will bring to the authoring side of my life.

I’m only planning to publish one book in 2025. After several years of releasing 2-3 books per year, I really need a break. Marketing takes a lot out of me. That isn’t to say I’m going to stop marketing, but having only one book to focus on this year feels like a small respite, one I really need.

So, plan number one:

Wraith and the Revolution (Release date June 17, 2025)

Wraith (as I often refer to it) is a standalone sci-fi novel with space opera and cyberpunk vibes. I’ll be sharing more about this book in the coming months, and a lot of artwork/character bios with my newsletter subscribers.

Oh, and the public cover reveal is coming soon too! I’ve recruited a number of bloggers and youtubers to help with the reveal on January 15. So if you’re anywhere on social media and follow my feeds, you’ll see it. I’ve had the artwork since last March, and keeping it under wraps has been torture. I’m not good at keeping things like this to myself.

Along with the cover reveal, I’ll be sharing a link for ARC signups. I’m anticipating having eARCs ready in March, and preorders on retailers should be available about the same time.

When I say I’m more excited for this book than for any of my previous releases, I really do mean that. Wraith has been a lifetime in the making. Literally. Some of the characters first appeared in a “book” I wrote when I was 13 (and I’m going to date myself here: That was 28 years ago.) The story has evolved and changed drastically since then, more characters were added, the galaxy expanded, and…so much more. But it all started with that book so many years ago—and I finally have a story with some of those characters worthy of sharing.

So anyway, that’s the main plan I have for 2025. On to plan number two.

WorldCon Seattle (August 13 – 17)

Yes, I will be at WorldCon, in at least an attendee capacity. I have my tickets (plural, because the husband is tagging along 😊), and I’m hoping to meet up with some of the other authors I’ve met and interacted with online the last few years. If you’ll be there and want to meet up during the event, let me know!

Writing Plans

I should, in theory, finish writing the book I’ve been working on since August very soon. It’s part of The Mage War Chronicles, but this main character has been…difficult. I’ve made good progress lately, so I’m hopeful I’ll be finished with it soon. And maybe I’ll even have a real title in the near future too.

I’m also planning to write the second book in The Fontayne Company duology. I have a rudimentary outline and a good idea of how everything will play out. (Also, that main character has been plaguing me at 3am recently, so I’m going to have to finish his story soon. He’s a bit relentless when he wants to be.)

Beyond these two projects, I’m not sure what else I’ll work on yet. I have outlines for at least two other books already, and ideas for so many more…

Anyway, I hope the New Year treats you all well!
