Content warning: Darkwitch contains some violent scenes.

I read and reviewed Dyrwolf, the first book in this series as part of my August 2021 book review post. You can read my thoughts on Dyrwolf here: August 2021 Book Reviews

Since the events of Dyrwolf, the Colony remains unsettled. Those now called the Shunned were banished from the Colony after their former leader was ousted, and they remain bitter, intent on the destruction of those seeking unity between the Pack and the humans. The leaders of the insurgents continue to attack the Colony, as well. For Lea and Henrik, life has continued along a path of turmoil and strife.

I loved reading Dyrwolf, and Darkwitch was a fantastic continuation of the story. It was just as action-packed and unpredictable, but had a truly wonderful ending. On a side note, for those who typically skip reading epilogues, do not skip this one. It holds the ending you’ll be waiting for.

More is revealed about the Pack during the second book, and what it means to be a wolf. I loved the lore and worldbuilding in this series, the edginess of the main character (Lea), and the constant sense that something else was just about to happen. The action is almost constant. This book is a page-turner.

For most of the characters, there was a happy ending. I won’t go into details here, since there would be spoilers, but I still want to know exactly what happened to Tor at the very end. While I have my theories, I’m not sure if they’re right. I was happy to see Gunnar had a good ending, and Nils, too. And of course, Henrik and Lea (Henrik has been my favorite since book one.)

This was a great read.
