Happy New Year!
Here’s hoping 2026 is a good year for all of us. While 2025 was okay, there are definitely parts of it that I’m happy to leave behind.

What are my writing plans for 2026?
First, I’m planning to complete final revisions on Rites of Departure, book 1 of The Fontayne Company duology, and get it to my editor. I also need to secure cover artwork for it and book 2 sometime this year. I’d like to publish Rites of Departure in 2027, though I’m not entirely sure when yet. It might be spring. It might be fall. It all depends on how things fall into place.
The next project is revising book 2 of the same duology, Into the Beyond. I’d like to get it to my beta team before the end of the year.
And then there’s the big project…
I’ve been itching to revisit The Mage War Chronicles for some time. There are parts of that in-process series that I’d like to rework, and one book needs an entire rewrite. I’ve been putting this project off for a while because I wasn’t sure how I wanted to go about the big revisions. But I think I now have a plan.
Once the revisions/rewrites are done, I still have at least 2 more books to draft. Stubborn as I am, I won’t be publishing this series until I’m satisfied that all of it is more or less ready to go. I’ve been working on this series off and on since 2020, but I still can’t tell you exactly when it will begin to release. I promise it will be published eventually. It’s just not there yet.
All of this is after I finish drafting my current project, of course. I have lots of plans, but I am very much a one-project-at-a-time author. The current project is a standalone and will be a shorter work (I’m leaning toward novella-length, shockingly enough, though that’s not a firm promise. I write until the story is told, so it may end up a touch longer and be a short novel. We’ll see.)
I’m not planning to publish any novels in 2026.
There will be a story in at least one anthology coming out. Some Books Aren’t Worth Reading is part of the Book of Spores short story anthology, which will publish officially later this year. I have another story, Tiiv Kaadan, that is with a different anthology, but I don’t have any other information to share about that project at this time.
I also have Survivor, a short story that has been going to my newsletter in increments that I may publish elsewhere later in the year. I haven’t made up my mind yet if I want to do that, or leave it as a subscriber-only feature. I need to do a little more research on marketing single short stories before I make a real decision there.
Anyway, that’s my current roadmap for 2026. I’m looking forward to this year and the promise it brings. I hope my readers also have a great New Year!
