I’m going to stop talking about The Mage War Chronicles for a while…

Since January, I’ve been revising and rewriting the previously-drafted books in The Mage War Chronicles, which is a series I will definitely publish one day. But I need to stop talking about that series here for a while, because it is not the next one in my publishing queue (it isn’t finished yet.)

What I’ll be focusing on instead

The Fontayne Company. It was a really fun duology to write, and since I officially have a release plan now, it needs more time on my blog.

The TLDR; Both books are written, and the first one (Rites of Departure) has gone to my editor and is back with me now for final revisions. Cover artwork is in-process too. I’m planning to start sharing character profiles with my newsletter starting in August, a public cover reveal will be sometime in January, and I’m shooting for a release date in March 2027.

About The Fontayne Company

The Fontayne Company is the story of an elven ghost 600+ years dead, a necromancer who requires his “expertise,” a dragon inventor, and their unique crew of paranormal investigators.

The Fontayne Company is a cozy, somewhat romantic fantasy set in a world with modern-style technology and inhabited by a wide array of people. There’s a bit of magic, a lot of snarky commentary from the ghostly protagonist, and some wild inventions, courtesy of the world’s “dragon tech.”

While the book is narrated by Zeldyvian Fontayne, there are a number of other characters featured. Here’s the breakdown:

Zeldyvian Fontayne: An elven ghost over 600 years dead, who is trapped at the site of his death. He’s a prankster, has a witty sense of humor, and was a ton of fun to write.

Melchior Crowe: A necromancer seeking a real spirit to act as the “paranormal expert” on his investigative team. He goes by Mel.

Tagrin Greentail: A dragon inventor responsible for most of Mel’s fancy equipment.

Sylvanus Draesha: A half-vampire/half-faerie, and the professor of history at a major university. Sylvanus is also known as a lorekeeper, since his academic endeavors often lean into the occult.

Ana Dymund: A priestess of the death goddess with an affinity for working with spirits. She specializes in singing the Rites of Departure, which sends the dead to her goddess’ realm.

Xavian Eru: A cheerful Nagan who acts as the team’s videographer.

Iris Leone: A noblewoman with her eye on Mel, Iris convinces him to let her join his team on a provisional basis. She claims she can see spirits, but Mel is skeptical.
